ABOUT ME

Aspiring Ethical Hacker

Hey, there! Welcome to my website! My name is Catherine, and I am an engineer with a passion for Cybersecurity. I have a B.S. in Physics from the University of Maryland, as well as an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. I spent multiple summers in undergrad working at Fermi National Accelerator Lab on the Mu2e project, where I spent time programming FPGA's for the detector, and designing PCB's to be used for data collection for temperature and radiation inside the detector. I went to Carnegie Mellon to pursue a Masters and specialize in circuits and signals, but by chance, or a stroke of luck, I took some computer security courses my first semester, and fell in love. After what felt like the longest year of my head in the books, I graduated, and was given an offer to work on the Offensive Security team of a large financial company. Working on this team has been amazing and given me the chance to learn from some talented colleagues, and pursue my mission of becoming a full time ethical hacker!

Outside of the world of Cybersecurity, I love to run, bake, and travel! While I never had much interesting in racing, I love trail running, and have spent many days running and exploring national parks. My favorite trip was to Canyonlands, near Moab, UT. The views were incredible, and even though I went in the middle of January, it was absolutely beautiful, and just the right temperature for an adventure! I have future plans to train for an R2R2R trip through the Grand Canyon, but a series of injuries has set me back pretty far. I'll get there eventually! As for baking, I have grand dreams of opening up my own bakery one day, but for now, I'll stick to practicing! I have a wonderful family down south in the beautiful country of New Zealand, and while I'd love to travel all over the world, my favorite place will always be my second home.
